Throughout 2009, we are focusing a year of ceremonial attention to two areas in the Bay Area: Mount Diablo (East Bay) and the Guadalupe Watershed (South Bay). The year on Mt. Diablo will focus on our plant relations and culminate in a 5-day prayer walk in the Fall. The year in the Guadalupe Watershed will have an earth healing focus in response to the various human disturbances of the land there.
Through these two year-long ceremonial progressions in 2009 we are also diving into a 4-year cycle of work with the Elementals here in the S.F. Bay Area: Earth in 2009, Water in 2010, Fire in 2011, and Air in 2012 (series completes on Winter Solstice 2012). On an unrelated note, for those interested in the relationship of shamanic healing practices with Western psychology and clinical mental health, here is my recently completed dissertation. Granted, it's a bit academic in tone as dissertations are but hopefully it conveys clearly some important concerns (and it's great to be done!).
