Biography

Daniel Foor is a practitioner of earth-honoring forms of spirituality in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is passionate about supporting individuals of any background or ancestry who are interested in earth-honoring traditions and everyday ways of life.

Daniel's formal academic training includes a Ph.D. in psychology from Saybrook Graduate School and Research Center, an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (MFC #46692), and a B.S.S. in Religious Studies from Ohio University. His doctoral research focused on the intersection of psychotherapy and shamanic healing methods. He has lived in the Czech Republic, Mexico, Ecuador, Egypt, and Morocco and is bilingual in Spanish. Daniel is also a certified Wilderness First Responder.

Daniel has studied world religion for 15 years with an emphasis on Islamic spirituality, Mahayana Buddhism, and diverse forms of shamanism and indigenous wisdom, including the earth-honoring traditions of Europe.  He leads ceremonial circles and trainings focused on work with the ancestors and with the land, and he also offers individual mentorship and healing sessions and services. All of his offerings in some way emphasize learning to relate well with many other kinds of beings (e.g. spirits of place, the elementals, our ancestors and guides, other humans) and remembering our personal destiny here in service to the Earth and Life.

Daniel's ancestors of blood are Northern and Western European immigrants to North America (mostly Irish, English, and German) and he loves his family deeply. Although he is grateful for the opportunity to participate in and support ceremonies offered by representatives of diverse traditional lineages, Daniel does not claim to represent any indigenous traditions besides those of his own Euro-American and European ancestors. By encouraging individuals to work deeply with their personal lineage ancestors in a sustained and healing way, he seeks to support others in realizing that every human being is born into lineages that understood at one point (or perhaps still understand) how to live well with the Earth and the many beings.
